Java bigdecimal negate method example

                         

Example below demonstrates working of bigdecimal class negate method. Method returns the same copy of the bigdecimal value but with opposite nature, that the bigdecimal value possess previously. Returned bigdecimal value will be as per context settings defined. 
In short method return type is minus of this.object or simply -this.object.

Method throws NumberFormatException if it finds value other than integer or double and throws ArithmeticException
if the rounding mode is UNNECESSARY. 

Syntax for using the method : public BigDecimal negate(MathContext mc)
BigDecimal objects with names x & y;
y = x.negate(mc);

import java.math.MathContext;
import java.math.RoundingMode;

public class Java_bigdecimal_negate_example {
  public static void main(String args[]) {

    MathContext mc = new MathContext(0);
    mc = mc.DECIMAL64;
    BigDecimal broken = new BigDecimal(5.2485),
    arrow = new BigDecimal(-2.254);

    System.out.println("broken object value : " + broken);
    System.out.println("method generated result : "
        + broken.negate(mc).doubleValue());

    System.out.println("\narrow object value : " + arrow);
    System.out.println("method generated result : "
        + arrow.negate(mc).doubleValue());

    boolean value = true;
    System.out.println(!value);
