FTP clients like WinSCP for Windows or Cyberduck for Macintosh can be used to connect to an anonymous FTP site or it can be also done using FTP command in Windows, Mac OS X, or Unix.

To transfer files using anonymous FTP you need to enter anonymous as username and an arbitrary password to login. Most of the sites tell you to enter a valid email address as password. Once, your login is successful you can establish the connection to browse the public directories on the site.
