Step 1: Installing Python 2

First of all you have to install Python 3 on your Ubuntu 22.04 box. Here is the command to install Python 3:

sudo apt install python3.9

Step 2: Install pip

Next step is to install pip and you can install it with following command:

sudo apt install python3-pip

Step 3: Installing opencv 4

To install opencv 4 run the following command on terminal.

pip install opencv-python

Above command will install opencv 4 on your Ubuntu 22.04 desktop.

Step 4: testing opencv

Run the python terminal by running

python3

on the terminal.

run following code the python terminal:

import cv2
print(cv2.__version__)

Above command should print the version of opencv as shown below:

>>> import cv2

>>> print(cv2.__version__)

Here is output of the opencv 4 installation process:
