Right in the middle of Africa, lies a country also referred to as 'Dead Heart of Africa'. Chad is home to a population of around 10,329,208 people lives here. Located at the coordinates of 15° North and 19° East, Chad is spanned over an area of 1,284,000 square kilometers, which makes it the 21st largest country in the world followed by its neighbor Niger. It is bounded with Sudan in the east, Niger to the West, Libya to the north and Central African Republic to the south. The Sudanese savanna along with the Sahelian belt and the desert zone form the core of this country. Surrounded by Sahara, the northern part of Chad has mostly sandy plains along with some mountains.

Chad is named after the Lake Chad, the second largest lake in Africa. N'djamena is the capital of Chad and also its largest city. The chief rivers of Chad are Logone and Chari.

Chad is among the poorest countries in the world with 8% of its population living under poverty line. Lack of natural resources, droughts, and improper infrastructure has made things a little more difficult.

Chad has a rich cultural heritage. The Chad National Museum showcases the traditions and customs of the Chad people. There are many languages spoken in Chad, which adds to its affluent culture.
