Replication factor: 1 larger than available brokers: 0

Hi,

I am trying to create kafka topic with following command:

bin/kafka-topics.sh --create --zookeeper localhost:2181 --replication-factor 1 --partitions 1 --topic test

Its throwing following error:

deepak@deepak-VirtualBox:~/kafka_2.12-1.0.0$ bin/kafka-topics.sh --create --zookeeper localhost:2181 --replication-factor 1 --partitions 1 --topic test
Error while executing topic command : Replication factor: 1 larger than available brokers: 0.
[2017-12-09 14:25:42,460] ERROR org.apache.kafka.common.errors.InvalidReplicationFactorException: Replication factor: 1 larger than available brokers: 0.

How to solve this?

Hi,

This error comes when Kafka is not stated.

Run it with following command:

bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties

Once this is started you should be able to create topics and use Kafka.
