Moth Ki Masjid in Delhi

The Moth Ki Masjid is a mosque that has been standing in Delhi for more than five hundred years. This large mosque features an interesting story to its name and an interesting design that makes it very different from other mosques in Delhi and other parts of India.

The Moth Ki Masjid was built in 1505 by Sikander Lodi. The name that is used here means "Lentil Mosque." This is believed to have come from how Lodi had given out a grain of lentil to a minister that he followed. This is specifically a moth seed, a type of lentil seed that is commonly used in Delhi and other parts of India. There is also the belief that the seed that was used should be handled with God in mind. Therefore, the seed would result in the construction of this beautiful mosque.
