Problem and Troubleshooting while Installation

Linux creates some problem in installing it especially for the first time user. There are some kind of problems emerges during the installation and after the installation.

Trouble During the Installation
At the time of  installation mostly Linux creates the problem in partitioning the disk. So for solving the problem must check out your hardware vendor's website.

Trouble with Partition Tables
If hard disk is not partitioned correctly, it may create some problems like:
Error in booting, not getting software support.
Problem in to start up X window.
Next screen is not moving. etc.

For escaping these sorts of problem, you must leave 528 MB Hard disk while partitioning if you are installing Linux on the old system, because BIOS does not access initial 1024 cylinder of the hard disk which is equal to 528 MB. This remaining partition can be utilized by doing root partition on this space. the only condition is that the hard disk must have more than 1024 cylinders.

To create partition, Linux must be initiate the losing of all the data on the drive.

Partition table can not appear, if it is used in that drive where partitioning software has been used.

You must remember these things before beginning the partition.
A /boot partition of type Linux native
A / (root) partition of type Linux native.
A <swap> partition of type Linux swap.

While defining partition's type as Linux swap, it is not need to assign its mounting point. It is done automatically.

Problem after installation.

Many times lots of problems emerges after the installation. e.g. unable to find Internet pubic library from *NWSSTG (Small Network Storage Space. )

If  you did not create a user account during installation period, it is yet need to create your user account with a password. Remember, never use root as your personal account, this may be the cause of various account. So Always a personal user account.

If you have forgot your user password, don't  worry recovery can be get through your root password by gaining new user account or password. For coming on the root, type su - and enter your root password when prompted. Then, type passwd <username>. This allows you to enter a new password for the specified user account.
