VectorLinux 5.1 Live Beta 1 has been released

Well here it is. We couldn't let the SOHO people have all the fun, could we? This live CD represents as close as possible VectorLinux 5.1 Standard. It comes with kernel 2.6.15.3, udev 085, Ndiswrapper 1.9, and everything else from Standard, like IceWM, Fluxbox, and XFce 4. Please download and help us find some bugs to squash.

Vector Linux is a small, fast, Linux operating system for Intel, AMD and x86 compatible systems, based on one of the original Linux distributions, Slackware. The enormously popular Slackware is the true 'Unix' of Linux distributions and is used by major corporations, universities and home users alike. Its popularity stems from the fact that it is a robust, versatile and almost unbreakable system. We have produced a bloat free, easy to install, configure and maintain Slackware based system that is second to none. We include automatic hardware configuration, unique administration tools and easy package management via the Gslapt/slapt-get system. We are also known as the fastest non-source distro on the planet!

We have quit using Isolinux and switched to Grub on the live cd. It gives an easier to use menu for selecting boot options(there is an image showing this below). We have added a soundcard autodetect feature for those of you with soundcards that were not being setup. We have added a new autodetect X feature that gives you the max resolution of your monitor, and a 640x480 X option for those of you still holding on to monitors pre 1995. We have taken care of the ndiswrapper problem, and nvidia seems to be working at full speed now.
