About the Foresight
Linux
Foresight Linux is a Distribution which
showcases some of the latest and greatest from GNOME. Some of the things that
may not be mature enough for some of the other distros. Some of the more
innovative things are included, like beagle, f-spot , avahi (zeroconf), and the
latest hal . All of this plus some nice, clean default themes and artwork.
Where does the name Foresight come from?
Glad you asked! Many things about Foresight are innovative, not just some of the
applications that are included. The biggest of which is Conary, which is a new
way of looking at package management. Also, a work in progress, Oversite for web
based systems management.
Foresight and Xorg 7.0
Xorg 7.0 on my Foresight laptop now available. Seems to
be working well, though still needs a little work to make everything work the
way it should. Mostly updates to rhpxl and rhpl so system-config-display works
right. There is also an dependancy issue that is pulling in a old version i need
to track down. And I have three packages that aren’t building now,
pyxf86config, tk, and xterm. We need to track that stuff down then we should be
ready to ship it.
NetworkManager bug fixed
I have been plagued with a broken NetworkManager since
0.6.0 was released (now at 0.6.2). Odd thing is that it worked for others
and not me. Specifically we had confirmed reports that NM worked on
Foresight with madwifi (I have an ipw2200). Finally got it working…
Should work fine for the masses now, try it and report results please.
