| DesktopBSD 1.6 RC2 has been released |
| We are pleased to announce that DesktopBSD 1.6-RC2 is now available from our download mirrors and via BitTorrent. Major changes since 1.0 include: Live CD with improved video detection and redesigned installer; support for upgrading from 1.0; considerably improved package manager user interface and performance; FreeBSD 6.2 as base system with better hardware support; KDE 3.5.6 and K3B 1.0. Another CD with additional language packages for KDE will be available soon. |
About DesktopBSD 1.6 RC2
DesktopBSD is an operating system based on FreeBSD and the FreeSBIE live CD. Its main goal is to provide a desktop operating system that is easy to use, but still has all the functionality and power of BSD. In the long term, DesktopBSD wants to build an operating system that meets most requirements desktop users have, like installing software, configuring power management or sharing an internet connection.
Major changes
