About Arch Linux 0.8
Arch Linux is a general purpose linux distribution that can be molded to do just about anything. It is fast, lightweight, flexible, and most of the parts under the hood are quite simple to understand and tweak, which can make it a good distro to "learn the ropes" on. We do not provide any configuration helper utilities (ie, you won't find linuxconf in here) so you will quickly become very proficient at configuring your system from the shell commandline.
New Steps
1. added some information dialogs
2. added some confirmation dialogs
3. added set root password
4. removed all kernel24 stuff
5. switched to initcpio only support
6. added locale-gen file for editing
7. only show devices that are usefull in mountpoints selection, partitioning and network
8. possibility to select dm and md devices from setup (creation of lvm and md still needs to be done by hand!)
9. mkinitcpio autoconfiguration. This includes HOOKS autoconfiguration and hostcontroller configuration: ide/scsi/sata modules are put into MODULES= in mkinitcpio.conf to ensure right loading order and avoid device-swapping
10.network modules are put in the MODULES=() in rc.conf - again, this is done to avoid random swapping of multiple network interfaces
