Linux Distribution: TinyMe
Url: http://tinymelinux.com/doku.php

Hello and welcome to the TinyMe project! TinyMe is an effort to create a very small remaster of PCLinuxOS. We do this for those of you who have old computers, like to mess around with small/fast systems, or want to program for a lightweight environment.

About TinyMe
TinyMe is comparable to distributions like Puppy1), AntiX, and DSL. If you like small distributions and you like PCLinuxOS, you'll probably like TinyMe.

Right now TinyMe is still in testing stages. We don't yet recommend it for the new-to-Linux user.

It's time for the first alpha of what will become TinyMe 2009 ?Acorn?. We've decided that our former naming scheme was too confusing to people and so from now the larger release will be called ?Acorn? (or a translation of that) and the smaller release will continue to be called ?Droplet?.

KDulcimer is proud to announce the birth of TinyMe 2008.1 ?Droplet?! Weighing in at a small 150MB, this slimmed-down offshoot of PCLinuxOS gives you a very minimal, very fast and lightweight, yet powerful and easily expandable Linux desktop. If you want a system where you choose your own programs, yet customization is easy, Droplet is perfect for you.

The first beta for TinyMe 2008.1 has been unleashed! While TinyMe 2008.0 was a great release, we're trying to make TinyMe even smaller. Thus, TinyMe 2008.1 is an effort to try to get TinyMe down to a barebones 150MB ISO. What do you get in 150MB? Well, you'll be able to:
  • Boot up the LiveCD,
  • log in to a graphical desktop environment,
  • configure your system with the PCLinuxOS Control Center,
  • install TinyMe to the hard drive,
  • and install programs with Synaptic.
From there it's left up to your imagination! Add your own applications and configure as you please! TinyMe can be expanded to become a server, a desktop for very old machines, a base for a gaming machine, or what ever you want.
