Linux Distribution: Kubuntu
Url: http://www.kubuntu.org/

Kubuntu is a user friendly operating system based on KDE, the K Desktop Environment. With a predictable 6 month release cycle part of the Ubuntu project, Kubuntu is the GNU/Linux distribution for everyone.

About Kubuntu
Kubuntu is a complete implementation of the Ubuntu operating system. Instead of installing the GNOME desktop, Kubuntu installs the K Desktop Environment (commonly known as ?KDE?). Kubuntu aims to be to KDE what Ubuntu is to GNOME: a great integrated Linux distribution with all the great features of Ubuntu, but based on KDE. The Kubuntu team is part of the Ubuntu community and therefore adheres to the same ideals enshrined in the Ubuntu Manifesto: that software should be available free of charge, that software tools should be usable by people in their local language and despite any disabilities, and that people should have the freedom to qcustomize and alter their software in whatever way they see fit.

2008-04-25 00:00:00.0 Kubuntu 8.04 is available    View
Kubuntu 8.04 stepped over the barriers of gutsiness and took on a whole new feat by providing this latest release with double vision. Improved desktops, updated applications, increased usability features, and a new future are just a few of the surprises with this latest release. Improved desktops? Double vision? Yes! Kubuntu 8.04 now provides you the ability to use either one of two desktop environments, or both if you shall choose. If stability is the feather in the cap you are looking for, then look no further than Kubuntu 8.04 featuring the KDE 3 desktop environment. If you are looking for a bit of an edge, Kubuntu has you covered with the new Kubuntu 8.04 KDE 4 Remix. This time around the development team jumped over hurdles, bent backwards, and did all kinds of flips for a non-Olympic event in order to bring you this latest release.
2008-03-03 00:00:00.0 Kubuntu 8.04 Alpha "KDE4" is available    View
Kubuntu KDE4 Hardy Alpha is here. There will be two editions of Kubuntu with the 8.04 release, a commercially supported KDE 3 edition and a community supported KDE 4 edition. We recommend the KDE 4 edition to those who want to try this exciting new desktop version and can put up with some missing features. It comes with KDE 4.0.1 and some applications from KDE 3 to fill in any gaps. As with any first alpha there remains much polishing to be done (you will need to run KNetworkManager manually for example), but it gives a good overview of what will be released with as 8.04 in April.
2007-04-21 00:00:00.0 Kubuntu 7.04 has been released    View
Kubuntu 7.04 stepped over the edge, becoming the feistiest release to date. Improved desktop, updated applications and increased usability features are just a few of the surprises with this latest release. The goal for Kubuntu 7.04 was to continue on the creation of a secure and stable environment, working towards the perfect KDE-based operating system. Starting with the excellent base of Ubuntu and an implementation of KDE, Kubuntu 7.04 set out to smooth the rough edges and polish the future of Kubuntu.
